Wednesday Night English Faith Formation for First Communion
Sunday Morning Spanish Faith Formation for First Communion
From the Heart of the Church’s Teachings, thoughts to ponder:
The witness of Christian life given by parents in the family comes to children with tenderness and parental respect. Children thus perceive and joyously live the closeness of God and of Jesus made manifest by their parents in such a way that this first Christian experience frequently leaves decisive traces which last throughout life. This childhood religious awakening which takes place in the family is IRREPLACEABLE. (St. John Paul II, Catechesi Tradendae 68)
It is consolidated when, on the occasion of certain family events and festivities, “care is taken to explain in the home the Christian or religious content of these events”. (St. John Paul II Catechesi Tradendae 68) It is deepened all the more when parents comment on the more methodical catechesis which their children later receive in the Christian community and help them to appropriate it. Indeed, “family catechesis precedes…accompanies and enriches all forms of catechesis”. (St. John Paul II, Catechesi Tradendae 68) - General Directory for Catechesis 226, emphasis added
Your role as a mother or father is irreplaceable in the spiritual formation of your child. St. Joseph parish is here NOT to take this role from you, but to assist you in this opportunity and responsibility in leading your children home to Heaven. St. Joseph parish will only partner with you in leading your child to Jesus Christ.
If you do not reinforce the Catholic faith at home in the family between Wednesday classes by prayer, example, and teaching your children how to love and follow Jesus Christ, the world and our culture WILL teach them NOT to love and follow Jesus Christ.
ONLY A COMPLETED REGISTRATION PACKET WILL BE ACCEPTED AND ONLY THEN IS THE CHILD(REN)'S SPACE IN CLASS RESERVED. COMPLETE REGISTRATION INCLUDES: $60 Registration Fee, Registration Form, Baptismal Certificate, Expectations for Parents Signature Page (SEE BELOW)
